Brain-CODE: A Neuroinformatics Platform for Brain Discovery

This webinar featured Dr. Francis Jeanson, Program Lead, Informatics & Analytics at the Ontario Brain Institute (OBI), who presented the topic “Brain-CODE: A Neuroinformatics Platform for Brain Discovery.”

OBI is working to improve brain health through its “Integrated Discovery Programs,” which bring together multidisciplinary groups from across Ontario to collect rich datasets from patients with diverse brain diseases. To optimize use of these data, OBI has implemented a unique large-scale neuroscience informatics platform, Brain-CODE, where data streams are being standardized and assimilated, allowing analyses within and across disease states.

Given his long-standing interest in complex systems, artificial intelligence, computational analysis, and modeling plus strong background in cognitive science, Dr. Jeanson has been working with OBI to help design and implement Brain-CODE. During this webinar, Dr. Jeanson will discuss OBI’s vision for Brain-CODE as well as the latest details of its implementation.

Through technologies and collaborations, OBI aims to carve out innovative ways for discovery in brain disorders and brain function by data type–specific and integrated data analytics using “broad” and “deep” data. To this end, Dr. Jeanson will introduce new technologies and methods being adopted for data analysis in neuroscience that are paving the way to our future understanding of brain disorders.

Orion’s webinar series fosters an exchange of knowledge on the latest breakthroughs in a variety of technical fields including bioinformatics, computational modeling, biomarker research, and nanotechnologies, and discusses how these can be utilized to accelerate time to cure for brain disease. We are inviting expert speakers to submit proposals for future webinars on the above topics. Each webinar is 50 minutes in length, followed by a 10-minute Q&A with questions submitted virtually by the participants. All webinars are free and open to the public.
